Since 1971, South Highland Child Development Center (SHCDC) has striven to provide quality care in a Christian environment for children of working parents. Monday through Friday each week, SHCDC offers a safe and happy learning environment where all children aged six weeks through five years can receive developmental care. Teachers plan and carry out a daily program which includes intellectual, physical, spiritual and social developmental activities. The Center is a 501(c)3 and is governed by a board of directors.

Philosophy

In an effort to aid young children to reach a productive and meaningful maturity, SHCDC has adopted a statement of philosophy which is reflective of our belief that each child should be encouraged to reach individual potential. Through the use of well trained staff, SHCDC strives to:

  • facilitate social adjustment

  • increase emotional security

  • enhance cognitive development

  • promote physical growth

  • support spiritual awareness

SHCDC provides a nurturing atmosphere and well-planned and creative activities. The children are exposed to new adventures and have adequate supplies and equipment. Comprehensive safety and health regulations are observed and nutritionally sound meals are provided.

To ensure continued program superiority, SHCDC is committed to continuing staff education and evaluation, as well as community interaction and awareness. Our dedication to each child seeks to ensure that he/she will have a life filled with healthy, worthwhile experiences.
